“Night” by Elie Wiesel Essay

Have you of all time been separated from your household? What if life wasn’t guaranteed? The holocaust killed over 11 million people. The intent of the holocaust was to extinguish the full Judaic race. In Night. by Elie Wiesel. Elie and his household were separated. The Jews’ freedom. individuality. and sense of hope were taken from them to do the Jews feel less than homo. Is freedom truly free?

In Night. they lost their freedom when the Germans made a new edict that stated. “All Jews are prohibited from go forthing their house for three yearss under punishment of decease ( page 10 ) . ” Besides. the Germans stated that. “From this minute on. you [ Hebrews ] are under the authorization of the German Army ( pages 23-24 ) ” . Without the Jews’ freedom they couldn’t fight back. With that in head. the Germans took away the Jews’ sense of hope as good. In order to make this. nevertheless. the Germans practically starved all the Jews to decease ; “At that minute in clip. all that mattered to me was my day-to-day bowl of soup and crust of stale staff of life ( page 52 ) .

” The Germans besides killed most of the Jews for small things like sass. taking an excess ration of nutrient. or cabbaging from the kitchen. By making that they were trusting to finally interrupt them down and do them experience ashamed for being Judaic. This is what the Judaic people went through. and the adversities every individual Jew must travel through to. hopefully. see the Sun tomorrow. Freedom is of no usage any longer.
